… says it’s more beneficial to acquire knowledge, skills at a young age

The founder of Ebony Ambassador UK and Ebony Global Skill Empowerment Initiative, Nigeria, Irene Eribo-Ani has expressed great concern for the need to reposition vocational and technical education in the country.
Eribo-Ani stressed the need for us to give high priority to these two areas of education, adding that doing so would substantially address youth unemployment and poverty in the country.
She stated this during a vocational training workshop held at Oba Adelani Gbogboade Memorial School, Lagos to sensitize them on the need to acquire a vocational skill.
“In today’s rapidly changing society, vocational skill acquisition centers are becoming increasingly important for secondary students. These centers can offer students the opportunity to learn practical skills that are in high demand in the workforce.
” Presently in the UK, those with skills are gaining ground.If there are enough people with vocational and technical skills in the country who are competent to handle jobs, they will be easily spotted for engagements.
The winner of the 2023/2024,Miss Ebony contest Rebecca Afolabi said that the Ebony Beauty pageantry is a creativity competition that empowers its contestants (Africans living in the United Kingdom) through skills acquisition and promotes African culture in diaspora. Miss E.B.O.N.Y Beauty and Creativity contest in London, UK was organised and she was crowned youth ambassador.
Miss Afolabi said before she emerged as the Ebony Ambassador,she had to learn series of skills including make up artistry that was part of the criteria used by the judges in determining
The principal of the school, Mrs Wale Ogunsola recommended that stakeholders in secondary school should have an educational conference where all stakeholders will agree on the best template and curriculum to be used to move the country’s education sector forward.
Ogunsola said the school have a vocational training center, where students of the school are horned with practical knowledge of various vocations.
Ogunsola added that by providing students with hands-on training in these areas, vocational skill acquisition centers can help them gain the skills and experience needed to secure well-paying jobs after graduation. These centers can also help bridge the gap between the classroom and the workforce, giving students a head start in their careers.
Furthermore, vocational skill acquisition centers can also help address the skills gap that many industries are facing today. By training students in high-demand sectors, these centers can help ensure that there is a steady supply of skilled workers available to meet the needs of the economy.
However, she said vocational skill acquisition centers are essential in today’s society to provide students with the practical skills and experience needed to succeed in the workforce. By investing in these centers, we can help prepare the next generation of workers for the challenges of the modern economy.
