A political group, G15, established to garner grassroot support for Governor Dauda Lawal’s second term bid has empowered 40,000 women in Zamfara.
The occasion took place at Teachers Training Development Centre, TTDC, in Gusau, the state capital, where the group ended its first round of empowerment tour to 14 local government areas of the state.
In remarks, Zamfara State Governor, Dr. Dauda Lawal, commended members of G15 for their efforts in touching lives of people in the state positively.
He recalled that during his campaign, youths and women of Zamfara stood by him and gave him victory against the then ruling party.
“When I was campaigning for my position, we met and interacted, especially with the youths and women of the state. We all know how we struggled and finally your support yielded the success we are seeing today. I will not forget you and all the contributions you made,” he said.
Lawal reaffirmed the commitment of his administration to involve the youths and women in appointments and fulfill all his electioneering campaign promises.
He disclosed that the second round of empowerment programme would focus on youths after his second anniversary.
The state Coordinator of G15, Alhaji Munir Muhazu Haidara, commended Dr. Lawal for winning the war against terrorism and banditry in the state.
He noted that since his inception as governor, Dr. Lawal brought life to the educational, healthcare and agricultural sectors. He also revived the economy of the state, which was at the edge of collapse.
Haidara explained that the name G15 came from the careful selection of 14 representatives from 14 LGAs with Gusau having a second representative which made it 15. The 15 supervisors oversee activities in their respective areas and properly coordinate people for the success of Dauda Lawal’s administration.
