The Association of Uzo Uwani People in Diaspora, popularly known as Njikota Uzo Uwani in Diaspora, has endorsed the Executive Chairman of Uzo Uwani Local Government Area, Chijioke Ezugwu, for a second term in office.
The group said a renewed mandate for Ezugwu would help consolidate and deepen the security gains recorded during his administration, describing him as the best choice to continue steering the affairs of the council at this time. In a statement issued by its Public Relations Officer, David Gerald, the association said the endorsement followed a recent summit attended by members of the Uzo Uwani community in the diaspora, including academics, traditional and religious leaders, civil society organisations, women and youth groups, students, and faith-based bodies.
Gerald noted that participants at the summit resolved to form a stronger and more strategic alliance with the council chairman in his second term, particularly in the area of security.
“Our association recently held a summit which attracted elites in the diaspora, scholars from academia, traditional and religious leaders, civil society organisations, women and youth groups, students and faith-based organisations,” he said.

He added that the group is appealing to the state government to return Ezugwu for another term, expressing confidence that his continued leadership would guarantee a safer and more progressive Uzo Uwani.
“As an association, we are praying and asking His Excellency to return Ezugwu for a better and stronger Uzo Uwani LGA. We have also resolved to form a stronger and strategic alliance with the council boss during his second coming, especially in the area of security,” Gerald stated.
The diaspora body further urged stakeholders across the local government area to rally round the chairman to sustain the gains of his administration and ensure continued development in the council area.
The group said Ezugwu remains well-positioned to superintend over the affairs of the local government and should be supported to complete the next phase of his developmental agenda.
