Gregory University Uturu makes history, inducts 83 medical doctors

It was a momentous occasion as Gregory University Uturu recently held its third Medical Induction ceremony, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s history.

A total of 83 new medical doctors were officially inducted into the medical profession, solidifying the university’s commitment to producing high-quality healthcare professionals.

During the ceremony, the Registrar of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, Dr. Fatima Kyari, represented by Dr. Tijani A. Mandaka, administered the statutory Hippocratic Oath to the inductees. Dr. Kyari commended the university’s management for maintaining high academic and professional standards, emphasizing the importance of integrity, empathy, and responsibility in the medical profession.

The Chancellor of the university, Gregory Ibe (Jnr), congratulated the inductees and encouraged them to pursue continuous learning and strive for excellence. The Vice Chancellor, Professor Cele Njoku, emphasized the need for the new doctors to be not only knowledgeable but also empathetic, urging them to uphold high standards of professionalism and contribute meaningfully to their communities.

The Provost of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, Professor Shedrack Offiah, highlighted the importance of collaboration, teamwork, and lifelong learning in the medical profession. The Founder of the University, Professor Gregory Ibe, expressed his satisfaction at seeing his vision of massive human empowerment come to fruition, particularly in the field of medicine.

The overall best graduating scholar of the class of 2025, Dr. Chidera Ugoh, expressed her gratitude and excitement on behalf of her classmates, thanking the university’s management, lecturers, mentors, parents, and guardians for their support.

With this record-breaking induction, Gregory University Uturu has doubled the combined number of inductees from its two earlier graduation events, bringing the total number of doctors produced by the institution in three years to 154.

This achievement is a testament to the university’s commitment to excellence in medical education as the institution continues to march towards a top MBBS program in the country and thereby
establish an enviable pedigree in the healthcare sector.
