Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu has expressed gratitude to the people for their exemplary behaviour during the ongoing nationwide protests.
In a heartfelt message issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Linus Obogo, titled “Working towards achieving a better future for Cross River,” the governor thanked Cross Riverians for their patriotism, civility, maturity, solidarity, and understanding, noting that their actions have set a remarkable example for others to follow.
“True patriotism is reflected in actions that prioritise the common good over individual grievances,” the governor noted in his message.
“I want to specially thank fellow Cross Riverians for choosing constructive dialogue over chaos. I want to thank you most profoundly for your wisdom in recognising that unity and cooperation are essential for progress.”
The governor also lauded the citizens for their civility during the tumultuous period, noting that “your ability to maintain a calm and respectful demeanour is a testament to your maturity,” and emphasising that “true change comes from peaceful engagement rather than violence. I commend you for choosing the high road.”
Governor Otu also expressed his deep appreciation for the security agencies in the state, noting that their mature handling of the situation has played a pivotal role in maintaining peace and safety during the protests.
The governor further enjoined Cross Riverians to carry forward the lessons learned during the protests, emphasising the importance of standing together in solidarity, civility, and understanding.
