Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has expressed grief over a fatal motor accident that claimed the lives of seven members of the Lawanti community in Akko Local Government Area (LGA).
The victims were reportedly travelling to Maiduguri, Borno State, to attend a wedding ceremony when the tragic incident occurred.
In a condolence message issued by Ismaila Uba Misilli, the Director-General, Press Affairs Government House, Gombe, Governor Yahaya described the accident as a devastating loss that extends beyond the immediate families to the entire Lawanti community, Akko LGA and Gombe State as a whole.
He noted that the sudden death of the victims has deeply affected the collective conscience of the state, stressing that no words can sufficiently ease the pain of such a tragic loss.

The Governor commiserated with the bereaved families, with particular mention of the District Head of Jalingo, Bello Hassan Babangida, who lost his sister and niece; Idris Lawanti Maigari, who lost his daughter; and Idris Isah Lawanti, the Councillor representing Akko Ward, who also lost close relatives.
Governor Yahaya prayed for Almighty Allah to grant the affected families and the entire Lawanti community the strength, patience, and fortitude to endure the loss. He also prayed for the forgiveness of the deceased, the acceptance of their good deeds, and for their souls to be granted eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus.
The Governor reaffirmed the sympathy and solidarity of the Gombe State Government with the people of Lawanti during this difficult period.
