Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has called on Nigerians to continue praying for the nation’s prosperity, declaring that “Nigeria shall be great again.”
He made this statement during the 17th Anniversary and Thanksgiving Service of the Love of Christ Generation Church C&S, held at Victoria Island, Lagos.
The event, tagged “Harvest of Amazing Grace,” brought together dignitaries, traditional rulers, and congregants.
As the special guest, Governor Abiodun reflected on how his faith in God brought him success, despite challenges and opposition from his predecessor. He emphasized the importance of unwavering faith, stating, “Faith is not just about believing but declaring it, and we will have what we say.” He encouraged Nigerians to pray without ceasing and maintain “mountain-moving faith,” assuring them that Nigeria will once again thrive.
In his testimony, Abiodun shared how he began his political career at the age of 37. Initially, he aimed for a Senate position, but his first attempt was unsuccessful. Despite this setback, he pressed on, not knowing that God had a bigger plan for him. “I kept pushing forward, and in the end, I became Governor,” he stated, underscoring the power of persistence and faith.
The Ooni of Ife, Arole Oodua Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, echoed Abiodun’s message, urging Nigerians to draw inspiration from the governor’s resilience. He likened Abiodun’s faith to that of the biblical woman with the issue of blood, who persisted until she was healed by touching Jesus’ garment.
The Ooni called on Nigerian youth to embrace hard work and perseverance, saying, “You cannot achieve your dreams by sitting at home; you must act on your thoughts, just like Dapo did until his dream came true.”
Reverend (Mummy) Esther Abimbola Ajayi, founder of the Love of Christ Generation Church, expressed gratitude to all the dignitaries who attended the anniversary. She recounted the church’s humble beginnings, facing numerous challenges, but noted that persistence and faith in God helped them overcome. The church, now 17 years old, has expanded with branches worldwide, including its new cathedral in Lagos and a branch in London, UK.
Among the prominent guests were former President Olusegun Obasanjo, traditional rulers, media personalities, and the Chairman of the Lagos State NUJ, Mr. Adeleye Ajayi.
Governor Abiodun’s message of faith and resilience left a lasting impression on the congregation, reinforcing the belief that with determination and trust in God, Nigeria’s future remains bright.
