The Cross River State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress Alphonsus Eba has debunked rumors that the state governor Senator Bassey Otu is witch-hunting his predecessor Governor Ben Ayade.
The state party chairman emphasized that nobody will be allowed to come between the governor and his predecessor.
He disclosed this in Calabar while speaking on the sidelines of a reception in honour of the second doctorate degree obtained by the States Education Commissioner Senator Stephen Odey.
Recall that the house of Assembly had in recent weeks announced the recovery of the construction equipments from some unnamed people in the state.
This fuelled speculation in the state of a rift between the state governor and his predecessor.
Speaking on this development, the APC State Chairman said “There is no witch-hunt by anybody I don’t know what you are saying recovery.
“I have sen words that are not appropriate, you find a government equipment in a government construction site word used is recovery but that it was stolen is completely out of place and whoever uses such words should withdraw it completely.
“Words that are inappropriate should not be used the house of Assembly has its own powers to do whatever they are doing nobody will defend fraud.
“Government has been made more open but please the idea of saying that anybody recovered any stolen property in an equipment that was found in government construction site does not arise in the first place nobody should say that the present governor is witchaunting the former governor.
“The former governor’s number one man is Governor Otu and for a man who sacrificed so much to bring Governor Otu, he is a man with a good heart and appreciates Governor Ayade and will not allow anybody not even the devil to come between them the party under my leadership also will not”, he said.
He described Senator Odey as an inspiration to people like him saying he is one of the people who has been influenced by the Education Commissioner.
He also emphasized that hard work is key and in the education sector if you find the commissioner parading seven degrees and living a good life it shows you that is the compass that can become the barometer to measure success and progress.
