Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River has appointed Mr. Linus Obogo, former deputy press secretary to the immediate past governor, Prof. Ben Ayade and Mr. Nsa Gil, the state Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) as Special Adviser, Media and Publicity and Chief Press Secretary (CPS), respectively.
Otu announced this in a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Anthony Owan-Enoh in Calabar, yesterday.
The governor had last week announced the appointment of 83 other aides.
Mr. Obogo, a graduate of English Language from the University of Lagos (UNILAG) holds a Master’s degree in Communication (Print Journalism) at the University of Calabar (UNICAL).
He served as Personal Assistant to Governor Liyel Imoke on Media and Research from 2013 to 2015 and Deputy Chief Press Secretary to Governor Ben Ayade from 2015 to 2023
Before then he was Assistant News Editor, The Sun Newspaper Ltd; Assistant Editor, The Nation Newspapers; News Editor, Mirror Newspaper; Political Editor, National Life Newspaper and Sub-editor, defunct Comet Newspaper.
In the latest appointments, Otu reassigned his former CPS, Mr Emmanuel Ogbeche to the post of Special Adviser on Media Affairs (Abuja).
Other appointments are: Mr Maurice Effiwat, Acting chairman, Cross River Civil Service Commission, Mr Abang Otu, Chief Protocol Officer and Mr Edwin Okon, Chairman, Cross River Internal Revenue Service.
He said that the appointments takes immediate effect
Otu congratulated the appointees and urged them to key into his administration’s development agenda.
