Gov. Obaseki, Oghiadomhe, others congratulate Senator Yisa Braimoh at 80

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki and the Chief of Staff to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Chief Mike Oghiadomhe joined other prominent Nigerians to congratulate Senator Yisa Braimoh, on his 80th birthday.

Born on August 12,1942 in Edo State, the former Senator who turned 80 on Friday, marked the occasion with a comprehensive Muslim prayers both at his Asokoro residence and the Halal Children’s Orphanage Home, Abuja.

For the family and friends of the octogenarian, it was longevity celebrated with historic resonance which culminated with a lavish open air ceremony at the Halal Children’s Orphanage Home, Life Camp, Abuja were he donated food items, cash and scholarship to students of the home.

Briamoh, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and Seriki Muslumi of Afemai Land of Edo state, represented Edo North senatorial district at the 6th National Assembly.
Speakers at the historic event recollected his central role in nation building as well as his profound commitment to helping the less privileged in the society.

In a statement, Governor Obaseki commended Senator Braimoh for his remarkable contributions to the development of Edo State, as well as the unity and progress of the country.

Obaseki said, “I extend hearty congratulations to Senator Yisa Braimoh, the Osiozoikhai of Auchi Kingdom, a nation builder and an elder statesman of our great party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“You have made remarkable contributions to the development of the state, even as you continue to work for the unity and progress of our nation.”

The governor described Senator Braimoh as “passionate and diligent,” adding, “you championed worthy causes across administrative, business and legislative spheres in Nigeria, recording prodigious achievements, and successfully carving a niche for yourself and improving the lives of your constituents and others who have come to know you.”

He said, “You gave a good account of yourself when you served as Senator for Edo North Senatorial District, and have remained a promoter of justice and equity.”

“As you join the octogenarian league, I celebrate you and pray that the Almighty grants you many more years in strength and in good health,” Obaseki noted.

Among the special guest were; a former Chief of Staff to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan, Chief Mike Oghiadomhe (Chairman of the event); Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Otunba Niyi Adebayo; Senator Victor Oyofo; Director General for National Gallery of Art (NGA); Mr. Ebeten Ivara; serving and former Senators; State Commissioners; top politicians among others.

In his speech, the chief celebrant, Senator Briamoh, who was supported by his wife, children and other family members, thanked God for lifting him from a very humble background to an enviable position in life.

According to him, “the experiences of my very humble beginnings in life instigated my motivation later in life, to relentlessly contribute my God-ordained quota to charity and the less-privileged.

“If it pleased Almighty Allah to keep me and raise me to this level of my life, the least I can do in reciprocation is to give back to society through the channel of philanthropy. This, he noted, further explained why over the years, I have devoted my life to charity and philanthropy.

” And I strongly believe in the philosophy that “the greatness of a man is not measured by the amount of wealth he acquires but by the number of lives he was able to touch or impact upon positively.”

He disclosed that over the years, he has contributed to the building of Mosques, Schools and public-spirited works and infrastructures that have enhanced living standards and conditions of the society, and especially the less-privileged.

“Over the years, my scholarship foundation has become a bridge through which many indigent pupils and students within my community in Edo North Senatorial district and beyond, have acquired basic and higher education and attained great heights themselves, ” he disclosed.
