Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu

To revitalise industries and expand electricity access, Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu, has rolled out energy initiatives aimed at transforming the state’s economic and social landscape.

Among them is the completion of an inherited Independent Power Plant (IPP) project, executed at a cost of N950 million. The facility is poised to stimulate economic activities, and attract fresh investments into the State.

“We are committed to bringing industries back to life and ensuring that our people benefit from improved electricity supply. The completion of this power plant marks a significant milestone toward achieving that goal,” Governor Aliyu said.

Another initiative to the reconnection of eight local government areas in the Eastern Senatorial Zone, communities that have been plunged in darkness for nearly a decade. This ongoing project aims to restore power, boost local economies, and enhance the quality of life for thousands of residents.

“For too long, these communities have suffered the absence of electricity. We are changing that narrative. This is about driving economic revival and improving the well-being of our people,” the Governor said.
