The Gombe State government has announced a phased payment schedule for retirement benefits to civil servants who exited the service between 2021 and 2023, with the disbursement of gratuities set to commence in October 2025.
Addressing journalists shortly after the State Executive Council meeting on Wednesday, the Commissioner for Finance, Malam Gambo Magaji, disclosed that the Council has approved a total of N6.563 billion for the settlement of gratuities for retirees across the three years.
According to Magaji, retirees from the 2021 batch will receive their payments in October 2025, those who retired in 2022 will be paid in November 2025, while beneficiaries from the 2023 cohort should expect their gratuities by December 2025.
“For 2021, we will be paying N1.952 billion; for 2022, N2.267 billion; and for 2023, N2.342 billion,” the commissioner revealed.
He explained that the payments will be made through a structured amortisation process beginning immediately and culminating with the full disbursements by the end of 2025.
Magaji reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to fulfilling its obligations to retired workers and ensuring a transparent and timely payment process.
