Traditional rulers in Cross River State, under the Cross River State Traditional Rulers Council, have welcomed the development efforts of the state Governor, Senator Bassey Otu.
The traditional rulers admitted that God has been kind to the state by giving it a leader who brings peace and tranquillity despite challenges.
HRH Etinyin Etim Okon Edet, the Chairman of the State Traditional Rulers Council, speaking on behalf of the council, made this known during a special session by the council to mark the governor’s first-year anniversary.
The special session, held at the State Council of Chiefs Chambers, was themed: “Thou Excelleth Them All,” and was graced by some Paramount Rulers, Clan heads, and Village heads across the state.
According to him, “God has been so kind to Cross River State by giving us a leader who brings peace and tranquillity despite challenges.
“He has been working tirelessly in the past year and not leaving anything that should be done today till tomorrow.
“Our son has been very logical, clever, intelligent, and has not been an ethnic person.
“He has been trying to recreate and reformat the state for the better, may God help you,” he said.
HRH Etinyin Edet, who is also the Paramount Ruler of Bakassi, appealed to the governor to improve the lot of traditional rulers in the state and also asked for a proper resettlement of the displaced people of Bakassi.
The governor, in his remarks, thanked the traditional leaders for their support, saying he would not achieve much without it.
He said he is building a strong economy that will stand the test of time and called for continued support from the traditional rulers.
