GigaLayer has announced the acquisition of Registeram, a Nigerian domain registration and hosting firm that has served businesses nationwide since 2008. The deal signals a further consolidation of locally operated digital infrastructure and underscores GigaLayer’s expansion drive within Nigeria and the broader African technology ecosystem.
According to the company, existing Registeram customers will retain uninterrupted access to current products and services, with a phased migration into GigaLayer’s infrastructure platform planned over the coming months.
The integration is expected to improve performance, strengthen security architecture, enhance redundancy, and deliver broader technical support capabilities.
Founder and Chief Executive Officer of GigaLayer, Ahmad Mukoshy, described the acquisition as part of a wider commitment to strengthening Africa’s digital backbone through resilient, locally managed infrastructure.
“We are not simply acquiring customers; we are reinforcing the foundation of reliable cloud and domain services for African businesses,” he said, noting that Registeram’s portfolio will transition into GigaLayer’s enterprise-grade systems, giving clients access to expanded cloud compute and hosting solutions alongside upgraded security and support frameworks.
GigaLayer currently operates infrastructure from two data centre locations in Lagos and is expanding its local bare-metal and cloud compute capacity to support compliance-sensitive workloads, enterprise applications, and high-availability deployments.
The Registeram acquisition follows a series of previous integrations, including Trudigits, Hub8, MainOne’s SMEinaBox, and LagosHost, reflecting a strategy centred on cloud sovereignty, compliance-ready infrastructure, enterprise-grade hosting, dependable domain and DNS services, and long-term ecosystem stability.
While Registeram’s founders are expected to transition into new ventures, GigaLayer will assume full operational control of the company’s assets and client relationships. The move aligns with broader industry efforts to reduce reliance on offshore infrastructure and expand secure, high-performance digital services within Nigeria.
Mukoshy added that Africa’s digital future must be anchored on infrastructure built and managed within the continent.
Founded in Nigeria, GigaLayer provides cloud infrastructure, domain registration, and hosting services to businesses across Africa and international markets, with a focus on performance, regulatory compliance, security, and reliability.
