Chief Executive Officer of Jonah Capital Nigeria Limited, Mr. Kojo Mensah, has called for international intervention over alleged intimidation and threats against Ghanaian investors involved in a property dispute in Abuja.
Speaking during an interview, Mensah alleged that armed security personnel and unidentified individuals have repeatedly disrupted the company’s operations and interfered with its assets despite the matter being before the courts. He claimed the dispute centres on ownership and development rights linked to an estate in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The company also alleged that parts of the estate have been occupied and its main entrance gate demolished, raising concerns over the safety of staff and management.
Mensah further accused officials of the FCT Administration of targeting the company, although the allegations have not been proven in court and no official response has been issued by the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.
According to the company, the matter has been reported to the Ghana High Commission, which has reportedly engaged Nigerian authorities, including the police and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, over the safety of Ghanaian nationals and investors.
The CEO also appealed to President Bola Tinubu, the African Union, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), the United Nations and international human rights organisations to encourage a peaceful and lawful resolution of the dispute.
The case remains before the courts, while analysts say investor confidence depends on the protection of property rights, legal certainty and the peaceful resolution of disputes through due process.
