In recognition of his contributions to the legal profession, democratic governance and human rights advocacy, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Osun Central Senatorial District, Kunle Adegoke, has been honoured by the House of Representatives of the State of Georgia, United States of America.
The recognition followed the adoption of Resolution 1449 by the Georgia House of Representatives on February 24, 2026, commending Adegoke, for what the lawmakers described as his distinguished legal service, commitment to human rights and contributions to democratic development.
The honour was conferred during a special ceremony held in Atlanta on June 21, 2026. The event was organised by the Emerging Leaders Dialogues and attracted distinguished personalities from government, diplomacy, academia, business and civic organisations.
The lawmakers noted that his professional accomplishments and unwavering dedication to the promotion of democratic ideals have earned him respect within and outside Nigeria.
The resolution highlighted the importance of global cooperation in advancing democratic principles, constitutional order and the protection of human rights. It stated that individuals such as Adegoke play a critical role in strengthening democratic institutions and promoting accountable leadership across nations.
According to the resolution, facilitated by Representatives Segun Adeyina, Adesanya, Gabe Okoye, Olaleye and El Mahdi Holly, Adegoke was recognised as an internationally respected legal practitioner, constitutional scholar and human rights advocate.
Former National Basketball Association (NBA) star and community leader, Terry Cummings, said: “It is people like you that are needed to change the lives of the people. I can see that you speak truth to power and speak from your heart.”
Adeyina noted that effective leadership requires a combination of knowledge, integrity and genuine concern for the welfare of the people qualities: “Adegoke has consistently displayed throughout his professional and public life.”
The Georgia House subsequently directed its Clerk to prepare and present an official copy of the resolution to Adegoke.
The event attracted members of the Nigerian community in Georgia, American dignitaries and political leaders. Those present included Adeyina, traditional ruler Bernard S. Akinrimisi, Kunle Masha, Rasaq Ibrahim, Olanrewaju Suraju, Bello Oyakhilome and the convener of the programme, Atilade Oshoniyi.
A a lecture was delivered by Adegoke titled, “Leadership Before Power, Service Before Position.” He addressed issues affecting Nigeria’s political, economic and social development, while offering perspectives on leadership and governance.
