Geoplex Drillteq Limited, a leading indigenous oilfield services company, has been recognised with the 2026 Indigenous Service Company Award by the Oil and Gas Trainers Association of Nigeria (OGTAN).
The award was presented at an OGTAN event held at the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun, Delta State.
The event brought together oil and gas professionals, service companies, trainers and industry experts to examine human capital development and the future of Nigeria’s energy industry.
The conference, themed “Empowering People. Driving Performance. Shaping the Future of the Oil & Gas,” also recognised individuals and organisations making significant contributions to the development of technical skills and human capital in the sector.
OGTAN President, Mr. Chris Osarunmewense, commended Geoplex Drillteq for its contribution to the growth of Nigeria’s indigenous oilfield services industry, describing the company’s achievements as reflective of the capacity being developed within the domestic energy services sector.
He said the conference was the first in a series of engagements designed to examine how stakeholders could collectively sustain and develop the workforce required to unlock Nigeria’s oil and gas potential.
According to Osarunmewense, the event provided an opportunity for industry stakeholders to set aside their individual organisational and professional responsibilities and focus on a shared priority, the people who power Nigeria’s energy industry and the capabilities required to take the sector into the future.
Using golf as a metaphor for human capital development, he said success in the energy industry, like success on the golf course, requires preparation, discipline, concentration, patience, strategy and continuous improvement.
He noted that success was not necessarily the result of one perfect shot but of consistently making sound decisions, learning from mistakes and improving with each attempt.
Osarunmewense congratulated the award winners and participants, saying their contributions would help strengthen the relationships and professional networks needed to advance the industry.
He also highlighted the significance of hosting the event in Warri, describing the city as an important part of the history of Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
He noted that the Niger Delta had for decades remained at the heart of the country’s petroleum industry, with its history closely connected to exploration and production, refining, oilfield services, technical manpower development and community relations.
According to him, Warri represents a unique intersection of industry, technical expertise, communities, institutions and human capital, making it a fitting location for conversations about the future of Nigeria’s energy workforce.
