Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams, an expatriate, Mr. Jaap Van Wissen, a former Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Samuel and others have given Federal Government clue on how to tame insecurity ravaging the country.
Adams and others including a foreign security expert, Mr. Jaap Van Wissen gave President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s led administration the clue at a One- Day Security Summit organised by
Donyx Global Concept Limited in collaboration with Ducaat Security Services, Netherlands in Lagos on Thursday.
Adams and others were member of panelists for the summit with theme:”Driving economy growth in Nigeria with modern security training and technology”.
In dissecting the theme of the summit, Adams said:” for years, insecurity has been in the land and up till today, it seems the government is still not ready to tackle this hydra-headed problem.
“Obviously, there is insecurity in Nigeria because modern security and intelligence gathering mechanism has not been fully engaged by the government to protect the citizenry.
“It is a no-brainer that the removal of security threats and securing Nigerians anywhere they may be in the country will ultimately drive and catapult economic growth and development.
“And for this to happen, coordination among security agencies must be sustained.
“Security agents must be driven by purpose, there must be commitment and there must be a sense of urgency to promptly tackle insecurity, anywhere it rears its ugly head”.
A foreign security expert, Mr. Jaap Van Wissen, from Netherlands in his analysis on the country can address the issue of insecurity, implored the government to invest in artificial intelligence gathering.
He said issue of security is a business of every citizen and they must be ready to take action, communicate , sincere and be at alert at all time.
A former Commissioner of Police,
Emmanuel Samuel called for synergy among all security stakeholders in addressing issue of insecurity in the country.
Another member of panelists who was also a former Deputy Commissioner of Police, Femi Salami harped on the team work and synergy among all stakeholders.
A retired army colonel, Gbenga Adekoya in his own submission, tasked Nigerians on discipling and honesty.
He also tasked security personnel to shun corruption in order for the citizens to have confidence in them.
