The Gani Fawehinmi Memorial Organisation (GAFARMORG) is emphasizing social justice as the key to resolving Nigeria’s longstanding socio-economic issues.

Chairman of the governing council, GAFARMORG, Agunbiade Babatunde, during a recent conference in Lagos honouring the legacies of Gani Fawehinmi and Abdulkadir Balarabe Musa, underscored the importance of government proactivity in promoting social equality, human dignity and the rights of all Nigerians, fostering a sense of inclusion.

He announced the 86th posthumous birthday of Gani Fawehinmi and the immortalization of Abdulkadir Balarabe Musa for their impeccable roles in championing social equity while they were alive.

Scheduled for April 22, 2024, at the Umar Musa Yar’ Adua International Conference Centre in Kaduna, this year’s event, themed “Social Justice as a Foundation for Human Dignity,” will serve as a platform for stakeholders to discuss and tackle the current socio-economic challenges faced by underprivileged Nigerians.

“In view of the above and as part of measures to solving the security challenges, the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani has graciously approved the programme.”

Babatunde further highlighted the Group’s initiatives aimed at decongestion of Correctional Centres in Kaduna through restorative justice systems and addressing the social imbalances inherent in the Almajiris system in Northern Nigeria.

Reflecting on Mallam Balarabe AbdulKadir Musa’s advocacy for social equality, his son, Kassim Musa remarked, “He advocated for social equality and equity within Nigerians of all classes, to birth a psyche of true citizens of this great country where we are all stakeholders.”
