FUTO alumni moves to end host communities’ encroachment

The FUTO Elders Alumni Association of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, has commenced plans to put a permanent solution to the reoccurring land encroachment by the host communities.

The National President of the association, Laz Uzoechi, who disclosed this at the weekend during the commissioning of the re-modeled school entrance gate also built by the FUTO Elders Alumni, regretted that the problem had made insecurity and vandalism a daily occurrence in the institution.

He promised that the association would soon embark on fencing of the school to forestall further encroachment.

Uzoechi equally assured of execution of IT project proposed by the association. He said: “In no distant time, the FUTO Alumni association will take steps to address the vexed issues of land encroachment and thoroughfare through the university. These and other issues have made insecurity and vandalism regular occurrences in the university.

The Vice Chancellor of the school, Professor Nnenna Otti, who commissioned the project, thanked the FUTO Elders Alumni for their support even as she urged them to do more
