Tyson Fury launched a scathing verbal attack on fellow British heavyweight Anthony Joshua on Wednesday, branding him a “classless loser” and expressing hope that Jake Paul knocks him out in their upcoming fight.
Fury’s comments came in response to Joshua’s remarks during fight week, where the former two-time unified heavyweight champion stated, “If I can kill you, I will kill you,” when addressing concerns about holding back against Paul, a YouTuber-turned-boxer.
In a video shared on Instagram Stories, Fury mocked Joshua for the intensity of his trash talk given his age and opponent.
“He’s a little bit long in the tooth to be talking s— like that,” Fury said.
“He’s 37 years old, at the end of his career, fighting a YouTuber, a Disney Channel guy who Tommy [Fury’s brother] beat, and now he’s talking about killing him and all that to try and sell [tickets].”
Fury referenced Joshua’s most recent defeat, a fifth-round knockout loss to Daniel Dubois in September 2024, stating: “You’re a classless loser, coming off a 15-month knockout defeat to a local lad. Imagine if someone from Morecambe knocked me out. You big bum, useless dosser.”
He also added a personal threat: “If I ever come across you, I’m knocking you spark out… And I can’t wait if Jake Paul knocks you spark out, you big bum.”
Joshua, unfazed by the criticism, doubled down on his comments at Wednesday’s final press conference, describing boxing as a sport where fighters have a “license to kill” and emphasising the dangerous nature of the ring.
“That’s my job. We fight. We have a licence to kill. Many people don’t understand it, but this is what my job is,” he said.
The bout between Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs) and Paul (12-1, 7 KOs) is scheduled for Friday at the Kaseya Centre in Miami, an eight-round heavyweight contest streamed live on Netflix.
Joshua returns after a 15-month layoff, while Paul seeks the biggest win of his professional career.
Meanwhile, talks are ongoing for a potential Fury-Joshua showdown in 2026, with Fury’s promoter Frank Warren indicating the “Gypsy King” would return from retirement for the right deal.
