Four abducted along Sagamu-Ijebu-Ode expressway released by gunmen

Investigation ongoing to arrest perpetrators

A Nigerian and three Indians kidnapped along the Sagamu-Ijebu-Ode expressway three days ago have been released.

Twenty travellers were abducted in the kidnapping which took place on Sunday after they were reportedly ambushed around the Sagamu area command of the Nigeria Police Forces and Ilishan township.

Speaking in a statement issued on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, revealed that three Indian nationals and a Nigerian who were taken in the incident had regained freedom.

Details on how the abductees were set free were not shared and it was not also revealed whether or not a ransom was paid.

According to Odutola, an investigation is ongoing to get to the bottom of the incident and apprehend the perpetrators.
