Flood wrecks havoc on Taraba community

Property worth Thousands of Naira are destroyed in Mayo Selbe community in Gashaka Local Government Area of Taraba State by ravaging flood that hits the community over the weekend.

The Chief of Mayo Selbe HRH. Kum Thomas Maiyanga Shaibu who disclosed this appealed to both state and federal Government to assist the victims to rebuild their ruins.

According to Shuaibu, the midnight downfall resulted in to flood which destroyed residence, farm lands, and other goods and services of the local people.

This is the first time the area is witnessing such natural disaster which also led to the collapse of a bridge within the town.

“This is the first time we are experiencing such magnitude of disaster in this chiefdom. Our people have lost a lot to the ravaging waters. Let me use this opportunity to call on Government to as matter of urgency come to the aid of the community as our people have lost virtually everything to the flood disaster.

“The victims have been subjected to untold hardship as a lot of them no longer have shelter and a place to lay their heads, no food stuff, and their farms are destroyed” he said.
