Residents and visitors are urged to practice extreme caution.

Here are the top countries currently facing severe crime challenges:

1. Haiti

This country tops the list of those faced with serious political instability and criminal violence. It is identified as a country rampant with kidnappings, homicides, human and drug trafficking.

Lack of effective regulations and laws has made this region and nation very dangerous, with its residents living in absolute fear and distraught.

2. Papua New Guinea

It ranks second in terms of serious cases of armed robberies, rape, kidnappings and abuse. It is driven by weak governance, which promotes more tribal conflicts amongst residents in the nation.

3. Venezuela

A country known for its natural beauty, yet engulfed in economic and political turmoil, as the crime wave continues to surge.

Poverty has also fueled a spike in criminality. It remains amongst the top list of nations cited as a dangerous one.

4. Afghanistan

Many local communities are plagued by threats and attacks from both criminal networks and militants.
