FirstBank Nigeria has partnered with Google Pay to enable eligible cardholders to make contactless payments using compatible devices at supported payment terminals worldwide.

The bank announced the integration on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, saying the development would expand customers’ digital payment options and improve the convenience of transactions locally and internationally. The service allows eligible cardholders to add their FirstBank cards to Google Pay and pay for purchases without physically presenting their cards, while benefiting from the digital wallet’s security features.

Abednego Ugwueke, Group Head, e-Business and Retail Products at FirstBank, said the integration was part of the bank’s efforts to improve its digital banking services and provide customers with convenient and secure payment options.

“At FirstBank, we are constantly evolving our digital capabilities to deliver banking experiences that are simple, secure and aligned with the lifestyle of our customers,” Ugwueke said.

He described the integration as a significant step in the bank’s digital transformation, adding that it would give eligible cardholders access to a globally accepted payment solution wherever Google Pay is supported. Ugwueke said the bank remained committed to connecting customers to global payment technologies while maintaining the security, convenience and reliability of its services.

The Google Pay integration complements the bank’s existing digital platforms, including LIT App, FirstMobile, FirstOnline and FirstDirect, as well as its range of payment cards.

FirstBank said the development reflected its continued investment in technology-driven solutions to improve customer experience and promote financial inclusion.
