First Lady of Nigeria Oluremi Tinubu on Friday met with the wives of the 36 State Governors of the Federation where she formally introduced and acquainted them with the objectives and the mission of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI).
In an official statement released by her Media Aide, Bukola Kukoyi, the First Lady extended her sincere congratulations to the wives of the governors on the smooth and successful conduct of the 2023 elections, which resulted in their husbands assuming office. She also emphasized the importance of fulfilling the promises made during the electoral campaign, urging them to seize the opportunity and deliver on those commitments.
Mrs. Tinubu emphasised the importance of garnering the support of the wives of state governors in order to effectively reach every corner of the country. Recognising the value of learning from the past to shape the present and future, she underscored the significance of collective efforts, which can lead to better and more sustainable impact.
The First Lady reassured the wives of the governors that the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) would not in any way disrupt their personal programmes and projects. She expressed her belief that their support would bring about meaningful impact and contribute to the success of the initiative.
Mrs. Tinubu said, “I wish to remind each of us that the exalted positions we are in today should be seen as an opportunity to impact more meaningfully, not only in the lives of people in your states but Nigeria as a whole.”
Speaking with State House Correspondents after the meeting, the chairperson of Nigeria Governors Forum Spouses Association and wife of Kwara State Governor, Olufolake Abdulrazak, conveyed the united dedication and unwavering commitment of the governors’ wives to support the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI). She assured of their commitment to appoint capable zonal coordinators who will assume the responsibility of leading the initiative and ensuring that the needs of grassroots communities are effectively addressed.
Mrs. Abdulrazak further affirmed that the execution of the RHI would not interfere with the individual projects undertaken by the governors’ wives in their respective states. Instead, she emphasised that it would complement and support their ongoing efforts, working in harmony to achieve greater impact and positive outcomes.
