First Lady of Nigeria Oluremi Tinubu has called for stronger global solidarity and greater empowerment of local communities in addressing humanitarian crises across the world.
The First Lady made the call in a message commemorating the 2026 World Humanitarian Day, marked on Wednesday, with the theme, “Strengthening Global Solidarity and Empowering Local Communities.”
Mrs Tinubu commended humanitarian workers for their courage, dedication, and selfless service in providing hope and relief to people affected by conflicts, disasters, and other emergencies.
She said the year’s theme underscored the need for sustained collective action to ensure that humanitarian interventions were not only immediate but also capable of producing lasting solutions.
According to her, achieving sustainable humanitarian outcomes requires the protection of aid workers, stronger international solidarity, and the empowerment of affected communities to take ownership of responses to crises.
