First fellowship session on mobile train excites rotarians

In a widely acclaimed sense of variety in choice of meeting venue, Rotary Club of Ota, held its first fellowship session on a Lagos to Ibadan moving train to admiration of members.

While describing the feat as a remarkable benchmark, in civic humanitarian engagement, members of the club penultimate weekend filed into the railway “Conference Coach” at Mobolaji-Johnson Terminal, Ebute-Metta Junction, for the memorable fellowship session.

President, Rotary Club of Ota, Mr. Charles Umukoro, alongside members of the club’s executive and general membership, held discussions on board the train centred on leadership interaction, service to humanity climate action and sustainable community development.

Other officers present at the historic gathering included vice president, Bisi Seleso, pioneer president, Olumide Adebiyi, treasurer Olumide Omotola, president-Elect Fatai Wasi, and the club’s doyen and oldest serving member, Dr. Kele Abolaji, among other distinguished rotarians.

Induction of member

A major highlight of the occasion was induction of railway district manager, engr. Rasheed Adedeji, after his welcome address to the rotarians on board the train.

His presence underscored the significance of the event and further strengthened the cordial relationship between the railway management and the rotary club.

Tree launching

Also, the club commenced a large-scale tree-planting exercise on February 28, 2026, aimed at contributing meaningfully to climate change mitigation and environmental protection within the host communities.

With this landmark initiative and launch of its environmental intervention, the rotary club of Ota firmly positioned itself as a trailblazer, redefining how fellowship, service, and impact can be creatively achieved in Nigeria.

According to a statement issued by chief public relations officer of the corporation, Callistus Unyinmadu, NRC remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote national development, environmental sustainability, and community advancement.
