With the January 1, 2026 implementation date for the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) tax reforms drawing closer, businesses are increasingly adopting digital invoicing systems in a bid to align with the new regulatory framework.

Afri Invoice, software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform focused on digital invoicing, tax compliance and payment tracking, has reported increase in the number of businesses migrating from manual to electronic invoicing ahead of the reforms, which are expected to reshape how transactions are documented and taxed nationwide.

The company said it is introducing incentives for early adopters to ease the transition, as many businesses prepare to adjust their invoicing and compliance processes before the new rules take effect.

Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Afri Invoice, Mark Odenore, said the reforms marked a turning point for Nigerian enterprises, particularly small and medium-sized businesses that still rely on manual invoicing.

“As the new tax laws take effect, many Nigerian businesses will need to adapt their invoicing processes. At this critical juncture, we are offering incentives to businesses that begin their digital invoicing journey early,” Odenore said.

He noted that manual invoicing often creates compliance challenges and inefficiencies, adding that the platform is designed to help businesses automate invoicing, track payments and remain aligned with evolving tax regulations.

“We are excited to see our platform making a tangible impact on the Nigerian business landscape. These incentives are aimed at supporting businesses of all sizes as they take their first steps towards digital transformation,” he said.

According to Odenore, adopting digital tools can help organisations streamline financial operations, reduce errors, improve cash flow and minimise the risk of fines and penalties associated with non-compliance.

Afri Invoice said its platform is built around three core pillars tailored to Nigerian business realities. These include compliance and security, with automated invoice validation, QR code authentication and audit trails that meet FIRS technical requirements; a mobile-first design that works in low-data environments and supports offline usage during power outages; and comprehensive business management tools that provide real-time financial analytics, customer and product management, and automated payment tracking.

The platform also supports professional, branded invoices with automatic VAT calculations, integrates multiple payment channels, and allows invoices to be shared via email or messaging platforms, the company said.
