The management of gmGeometric Power on Monday said that a fire outbreak, which occurred in the early hours of today at its facility at Osisioma Industrial Layout, Aba, Abia State, was swiftly extinguished. The company in a statement said that the incident, which was confined to a temporary building within the facility, was quickly brought under control without any significant damage to the company’s core infrastructure.
The affected structure was originally used by Group 5, a defunct South African electricity firm, during the construction of Geometric Power’s facilities over a decade ago. Having been largely unused for the past 12 years, the building held no critical equipment or operational significance.
Although the exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined, Geometric Power’s staff promptly initiated containment efforts, successfully curbing the flames before the Abia State Fire Service arrived. The state fire agency responded swiftly to the emergency call, reinforcing efforts to ensure complete extinguishment of the fire and preventing any risk of escalation.
The management of Geometric Power has commended its employees for their vigilance and decisive response in containing the situation. It also expressed gratitude to the Abia State Fire Service for its professionalism and rapid intervention, as well as to concerned members of the public for their support.
Reaffirming its commitment to delivering reliable, quality, and affordable electricity to the Aba Power Ring-Fenced Area and beyond, Geometric Power assures the public that this incident will not affect its operations. The company remains steadfast in its mission to drive economic and industrial growth through sustainable power solutions.
