A fire incident at the Bayelsa state-owned Niger Delta University, Wilberforce Island on Friday night destroyed the ICT building of the university.
A statement by the Registrar of the University, Mr Benjamin Joffa noted that the inferno destroyed the building and facilities at the Mass Communication Department’s Radio studio.

According to Joffa, no life was lost in the incident and an investigation has commenced to unravel the cause of the inferno.
‘’ While investigations are on to ascertain the cause of the incident, the University commends the efforts of persons especially the Bayelsa State Fire Service for their timely response that helped in ameliorating likely damages that may have occurred.
‘’ The University Management urges the University community and the general public to remain calm and await further information on the matter,’’ Joffa stated.
