A fire outbreak in the Alaro Alapata area of Sango, Ibadan, on Saturday evening has destroyed property valued at millions of naira. At least seven shops were affected by the inferno, leaving traders and residents counting their losses.

The cause of the fire remains unknown as of Sunday morning. However, the General Manager of the Oyo State Fire Service, Mr. Yemi Akinyinka, confirmed the incident and praised the swift response of the agency.

“Upon receiving the distress call, our team promptly arrived at the scene. Seven shops were already engulfed in flames, but we managed to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby structures,” Akinyinka said.

He also confirmed that no casualties were recorded, adding that the fire service was able to save properties worth billions of naira. “The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation,” he added.

The incident has left affected shop owners devastated, with many lamenting the loss of their goods and livelihoods.
