Super Eagles coach, Finidi George has revealed that his biggest regret as a player was when a proposed transfer to mighty Real Madrid fell through.
Finidi said he had already agreed personal terms, spoke with coach Fabio Capello and even signed a pre-contract to join Real Madrid from Ajax.
“I regret not signing for Real Madrid,” Finidi opened up yesterday on a media tour.
“I spoke with Fabio Capello, agreed personal terms and had a pre-contract with Madrid.
“Probably money issues stopped the deal because in those days Madrid were struggling with money and so couldn’t reach agreement with Ajax.
“That’s why Real Betis came in. May be I would have won another Champions League with Real Madrid.”
