New Zealand national women’s team coach, Jitka Klimková, says her country is keen on trading tackles with the Super Falcons of Nigeria in an international friendly.

News emanating from New Zealand reveals that the Ferns as the women football team is called, will face Nigeria’s Super falcons in Turkey on April 12 in the last FIFA international window before the World Cup.

The cracker is billed to take place at the 7500 capacity Mardan Sports Complex in Antalya, it is gathered as part of New Zealand’s build up heading into the quadrennial tournament.

Coach Klimkova said Falcons remain the perfect opponent from CAF to challenge as part of their preparations for the World Cup in July.

“We were also keen to face an African side so that we have challenged ourselves against every other confederation, and Nigeria is the perfect opponent.

“We were disappointed with the results against Portugal and Argentina, so I know everyone is keen to get back on the pitch to show what we can do,” said Klimková.

Like Super Falcons, the Ferns have recorded seven winless matches under the guidance of Klimková, the recent being the 5-0 bashing from Portugal and 1-0 loss to Argentina in February.

The 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup tournament will be jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand, and is scheduled to take place from 20 July to 20 August.
