As Fidson Healthcare Plc celebrates 30 years, the company says it is “making a decisive pivot toward the digital reintegration of healthcare in Nigeria, aligning with global shifts towards data-driven and tech-enabled health systems.”
The pharmaceutical company stated that its legacy of innovation now extends beyond pills and production lines, positioning it as a catalyst for a more connected, efficient, and equitable healthcare ecosystem across Africa.
While announcing a ₦84.2 billion in revenue for 2024, a 59 per cent rise from the previous year, the pharmaceutical healthcare is doubling down on digital transformation as a central pillar for sustainable growth and national health advancement.
Fidson’s Finance Director, Mr. Imokha Ayebae, said: “We’re not just investing in machines and materials; we’re investing in data, in automation, and in the digital skills of our people.
“Fidson’s World Health Organisation (WHO)-compliant manufacturing facility in Ogun State, involved in Large Volume Parenterals (LVP) production with over 120 million bottles annually, is now integrating smart manufacturing technologies to improve quality assurance and reduce production downtime.
“This evolution supports the company’s ambition to minimize reliance on imports by leveraging real-time data analytics and AI-driven forecasting for raw materials and inventory management.
“The company’s robust distribution network anchored by 11 fully operational depots across Nigeria is undergoing digital optimization to ensure faster and more accurate medicine delivery.”
Deputy Managing Director, Mr. Biola Adebayo, added: “From automated order tracking to digital cold-chain monitoring, our logistics systems are being retooled to align with today’s healthcare demands.
“Fidson is also harnessing digital platforms to expand healthcare access, particularly in under-resourced communities. Through strategic partnerships, the company is exploring telehealth initiatives and digital patient education programs to improve treatment adherence and health outcomes.
“With a growing emphasis on data privacy and cybersecurity, Fidson is working closely with regulators to ensure that its digital operations meet international standards.”
The company further disclosed that beyond technology integration in operations, it is investing in digital training for its 1,700 strong workforce. “Employees now benefit from online learning platforms, health informatics courses, and digital health literacy workshops, part of a broader human capital development strategy that supports inclusivity and innovation.
“Looking ahead to 2025, Fidson aims to scale its digital health footprint beyond Nigeria, tapping into African markets where digital healthcare infrastructure is still nascent. Its ₦248 million investment in corporate social responsibility last year includes funding for digital health education, e-clinics, and tech enabled community outreach programs.”
