Bayelsa State Governor, the Hon Henry Seriake Dickson on Friday said, the federal government is not interested in securing communities, but rather offering protection and power to criminals masquerading as politicians, to promote violence and instability in the state.
Governor Dickson, who stated this during the Monthly Praise Night at the King of Glory Chapel, Government House, Yenagoa, said in the jostle for power and quest to take over the state, they use security forces, misguided youths and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to cause mayhem and promote terrorism.
In a press statement by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media Relations, Fidelis Soriwei, the governor said the federal government is sending a message that in politics, there is no playing by the rules or respecting the lives and property of citizens, as it is all about compromising the security forces, buying of arms to kill and maim, manipulating electoral results, while INEC declares the winner.
He expressed appreciation to Bayelsans for supporting the Restoration Government and urged them not to relent in their prayers for peace and stability to reign in the state and the country at large.
His words: “I say this particularly at this trying time, there are people who feel it is right to take over our state by force of arms, military might with INEC power and promote terrorism in a state that we have worked hard to stabilize. They want to promote the reign of impunity and criminality and violence.”
