The Federal Government would soon recover over $500 million loot stashed in foreign countries by some corrupt politicians, former Special Assistant to the President on Justice Reform, Mrs Juliet Ibekaku-Nwagwu, has said.The All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for Enugu West District, who enjoined the youth to vote for President Muhammadu Buhari and all APC candidates in the coming elections, disclosed that over $321 million has so far been recovered and repatriated into the country through the asset recovery policy of the present administration.
Speaking in Enugu when the Nigeria Youth Advocacy for Good Governance Initiative (NYAGGI) bestowed on her the award of ‘Icon of Humanitarian Service’, she said that loots stashed overseas would no longer be safe if Buhari is re-elected. The former acting Director, Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), said the nation could not survive if politicians and corrupt civil servants were allowed to continue to mindlessly loot the nation’s treasury.
