In a heartfelt celebration of Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day, the Feed One Million Kids campaign, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Abuja Aso-Golf, hosted a transformative outreach event at LEA Primary School, Wuse II, Abuja, on October 2, 2025.
The day’s theme, “Balanced Nutrition and Basic Education,” underscored a fundamental belief: that every Nigerian child deserves not just a meal, but a future.
The outreach initiative brought joy and nourishment to the lives of hundreds of schoolchildren, who were treated to wholesome meals, refreshing drinks, and gift packs carefully curated to support their well-being. The schoolyard buzzed with laughter, excitement, and a renewed sense of hope as volunteers, educators, and civic leaders came together to celebrate more than just a national milestone—they celebrated the power of collective compassion.
The event featured motivational addresses by a host of inspiring individuals including Dr. Maureen Omolola Chukwurah, Dr. Lizzy Ulumaranma Asomugha, Rtn. Chisom, and Rtn. Adefunke Oluwatoyin Oni. Their messages emphasized the long-term impact of good nutrition and foundational education, echoing the day’s message that these two pillars are essential in shaping a brighter, more equitable future for Nigerian youth.
Dr. Emem Aniekanabasi Alban, founder of the End Hunger Humanitarian Initiative and visionary behind the Feed One Million Kids campaign, delivered a powerful reminder that feeding children goes far beyond charity.
“We are not just filling stomachs; we are restoring dignity, planting seeds of hope, and opening doors to opportunity,” Dr. Alban said.
In keeping with the inclusive spirit of the initiative, the outreach extended beyond the school walls. The team took to nearby streets to distribute meals to underprivileged individuals and made a compassionate stop at the Zone 3 Police Station, where they provided meals to detainees—reinforcing their message that no one should be left behind.
This year’s Independence Day outreach stands as a testament to the mission of Feed One Million Kids: to confront child hunger and inequality head-on through tangible acts of kindness, strategic partnerships, and a firm belief in the power of community.
