A Federal High Court sitting in Kano had granted an interim order evicting Sanusi Lamido Sanusi from the Emir’s Palace at Kofar Kudu in Kano State
The court presided by Justice S A Amobede specifically granted an interim order directing the eviction of anything and anybody residing illegally within the Emirs palace pending the hearing and determination of the originating summon.
The suit was filed by Aminu Ado Bayero against the Attorney General of the Federation, Attorney General, Kano State,, Nigeria Police Force, Inspector General of Police, Kano State Commissioner of Police, State Security Service, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Nigeria Army ,Nigeria Navy and Nigeria Airforce
While granting the ex parte motion, the court restrained the respondents either by themselves, their agents, privies and any persons in authority from inviting, detaining, threatening, intimidating arresting or harassing ,raiding or tampering with or visiting the applicant in order to arrest or infringe on his rights pending the hearing and determination of the originating summon.
The court also granted an order restraining the 3rd, 4th and 5th respondents ftom denying the applicant the use of his official residence and palace at the Emir’s Palace, Kofar Kudu as well as the enjoyment of all rights and privileges accrued to him by virtue of being the Emir .of Kano State.
Justice Amobede granted leave for the bailiff of the court to serve the 3rd and 4th respondents with all the processes of the court through the headquarters iof the police n Kano including granting leave for hhe 6th , 7th and 8th respondents to be served through their offices in Kano.
The court noted that it was mindful of the order made by Justice Liman on rhe 23rd May in Suit number FHC/KN/CS/182/2924 while nsisting that the order was granted in the interest of justice and the maintenance of peace in Kano state.
The court granted an.order of expeditious hearing of the suit and adjourned the case to the 4th of June for hearing
In a similar development, a Kano State High Court presided by Justice Amina Adamu Aliyu has restrained the Inspector General of Police and the Chief of Defence Staff from.harassing or intimidating or invading the personal residents of the reinstated Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi
Also restrained by the interim injunction were the Commissioner of Police, the Director, Department of State Service, and Aminu Ado Bayero himself.
The application was filed by Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, Yusuf Nabahani Chigari, Ibrahim Sarkin Abdullahi, Munsur Murthar Annan and Bello Tuta
The court also restrained the respondents from attempting to hijack, pick, commandeer or confiscate any of the twin spear of authority, the hat of Dabo, the ostrich featured shoes, the knife and sword of the Emir of Kano as well as symbols of authority pending the hearing and determination of motion on notice.
The respondents were further barred from taking further steps in connection with the matter as well as interfering with the functions and duties of the Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as the Emir of Kano
The case was adjourned till June 13th 2024 for hearing.
