FCT polls: Early results show 3-horse race among PDP, APC, APGA in Kuje

  • Ballot box snatcher escapes lynching

From Romanus Ugwu, Abuja

Results trickling in from the collation centres in the FCT Area Council elections have shown that the final outcome will possibly be a three horse race among the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), the Peoples Democratic (PDP) and All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Kuje Area Council.

The results already inputted in the Form EC8A in about 20 polling units monitored by our correspondent, showed that the three political parties were closely trailing each other.

In Pasali Areas of Kuje, the APGA led in the results already collated, however in the Kayada areas, the PDP slightly edged other two parties in some of the polling units.

At Science Primary School very close to Gomo Palace, while APC lead in some polling units, other parties trailed closely.

Surprisingly, the opposition coalition party, the African Democratic Party (ADC) performed woefully, scoring as low as three or two votes.

Although the chieftains of the party campaigned vigorously in the Kuje Area Council, it was shocking that the party could not field agents at many polling units.

Generally, the results of the elections in many areas confirmed that there was apparent massive apathy as small as only five electorate participated in an entire polling unit just as the total number of voters was grossly insufficient to the total number of registered voters in many polling units.

Meanwhile, an election thug was almost lynched by angry and vigilant party loyalists while attempting to snatch a ballot box.
