Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Command, Dr Olusola Odumosu, has warned the over 4,000 election-monitoring team to avoid accidental discharge and make sure the election is fair, credible and seamless.

Addressing the officers before setting out to monitor the elections in the over 2,822 polling units in FCT, Odumosu told the officers to refrain from intimidation and harassment of voters.

Odumosu stressed that professionalism and neutrality are non-negotiable for the duration of the exercise.

“My charge, as always, is that you remain professional. Remain non-partisan. You belong to no political party. Our job is security. Protect humans and infrastructure. “I don’t want to hear that you worked for any political party or candidate,” he said.

At Durumi 1, where there’s a large turnout of voters, the village head, Yohanna Ishaku confirmed that polling is smooth and seamless.

But in other areas like NIPOST polling unit, Area 2 polling units and Durumi 2, polling is still going on seamlessly.

However, the monitoring team is still on. More reports later
