The City Boy Movement has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for appointing Mr Bitrus Lawrence Garki, as Mandate Secretary, Area Council Services of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).
Mr. Favour Abayomi, the leader of the movement, in a statement, on Thursday, appreciated President Tinubu for considering Mr. Lawrence for the appointment, and assured the President that the youths who vigorously campaigned and voted for him at the last presidential election would not take the appointment with levity.
He said: “This is a testament to President Tinubu’s commitment to youth inclusion in government. The appointment was well deserved and predicated on his efforts and commitment to the Tinubu’s Presidency during the electioneering campaign.”
Spokesman of the movement, Mr. Idris Jibril, in his submissions, described Mr. Lawrence as an astute and dogged grassroot mobilizer, civil libertarian, youth activist, and an ambassador of good governance.
He appreciated the Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike, for considering Mr. Lawrence worthy of the appointment amongst others, and also appreciated the Minister of Special Duties, Hon. Zaphaniah Jisalo, for being a trailblazer amongst indigenous people as their first representative at the Federal Executive Council (FEC).
Jibril commended Mr. Seyi Tinubu, for his commitment to the cause of youth development in Nigeria, stressing that his stewardship of the youth activities before, during and after the electioneering campaign was worthy of emulation, and will further breed competent and capable young leaders across the country.
He recalled that Mr. Lawrence’s appointment was announced on 5th September, 2023, as the Mandate Secretary, FCT Area Council Services, amongst seven others on a four years tenure by the Presidency.
He promised that being the youngest Mandate Secretary, Mr. Lawrence will bring wealth of experience from the private sector.
He maintained that Mr. Lawrence has distinguished himself as an advocate of the indigenous people of the FCT, a youth activist, grassroot politician, and a developmentalist, whose grassroot engagement had contributed immensely to the victory of the APC at the 2023 general election.
