Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose has described the death of All the Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Ambassador Gbenga Olofin as sad and unfortunate.

The governor, during a condolence visit to the Onigede of Igede-Ekiti, Oba James Adelusi Aladesuru described the late Olofin as “a very formidable man, a man of strong will and a wonderful friend who believed in achieving whatever he set out to achieve.”

In a press statement issued in Ado Ekiti yesterday by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Idowu Adelusi, the governor, who noted that he was in Igede, the hometown of the late envoy to condole with his family, Kabiyesi and the entire people of Igede, said: “We are sad; we are unhappy and we have come to encourage Kabiyesi and the people of Igede to take solace in the fact that it is God who gives and it is God wjo takes.‎

“He has gone. It is we who will go and join him when the time comes. So, God will grant his family, Kabiyesi, people of Igede and the entire Ekiti people the fortitude to bear this loss. It is a great loss,” the governor said.

On frequent road mishaps, which have claimed, lives in recent times, Fayose said: “To us as individuals, our attitudes to life must change. Life comes and goes in seconds. We must appeal to our people to know that it is not even about dying but about the pains and sufferings that will be left for the loved ones.”

In his response, Oba Aladesuru who appreciated the governor for his visit noted that the deceased was very close to the palace and was a strong pillar in the town. He expressed dismay at the fact that death took him away not quite long after he retired from service.
