Twenty-six-year-old Favour Bessan, popularly known as Favy, has emerged as the winner of the maiden edition of MasterChef Nigeria, clinching the coveted trophy and a ₦73 million grand prize after 13 weeks of intense culinary competition.
Favy defeated fellow finalist, Fads in the grand finale, in which both contestants prepared a three-course menu reflecting their culinary identities. Judged by renowned chefs, Chef Stone and Chef Eros, her menu impressed with its creativity, flavour, presentation and storytelling, earning her the title of Nigeria’s first MasterChef.

Reacting to her victory, Favy described the achievement as “a dream come true,” dedicating the win to aspiring home cooks and encouraging them to pursue their passion with determination and hard work.
Since its premiere on April 26, 2026, MasterChef Nigeria has celebrated the richness of Nigerian cuisine while showcasing the talents of home cooks from across the country through a series of cooking challenges and eliminations.
Managing Director of Primedia Africa, Tamara van Eeckhoven, hailed the success of the inaugural season, congratulating Favy and praising all the contestants for inspiring viewers. She also thanked the judges, sponsors and millions of fans whose support made the reality cooking competition a resounding success.
She said Favy’s journey embodies the values of passion, resilience, creativity, and excellence, adding that the show has helped inspire a new generation of culinary talent while celebrating Nigeria’s vibrant food culture.
