The Organizing Committee of the 2026 Nigerian Humanitarian Awards & Magazine (5th Edition) has announced the nomination of four distinguished humanitarian leaders in recognition of their outstanding contributions to social development, humanitarian service, and community transformation across Nigeria.
The nominees are Hajiya Fatima Buhari Bello, Founder of the Haske Children’s Foundation; Dr. Yetunde Adeniji, Senior Special Assistant to the President on School Feeding; Dr. Hauwa Aminu Wambai, Founder of the Al Masaareef Foundation (AMF); and Amb. Dr. Evangeline Ozonyiri Iwenjiora, Founder and Executive Director of the Ivyline Care Foundation.
The nominations recognize their unwavering commitment to improving lives through education, healthcare, women and youth empowerment, child protection, humanitarian relief, social inclusion, and sustainable community development.
According to the organizers, the nominations reflect the core vision of the Nigerian Humanitarian Awards & Magazine, which seeks to celebrate individuals and organizations whose selfless service continues to make meaningful contributions to national development and humanitarian advancement.
Hajiya Fatima Buhari Bello was nominated for her remarkable work through the Haske Children’s Foundation, where she has continued to champion the welfare of vulnerable children through educational support, child protection initiatives, healthcare interventions, and humanitarian programmes that have positively impacted countless families.
Dr. Yetunde Adeniji earned her nomination for her leadership in advancing Nigeria’s school feeding programme, promoting child nutrition, improving school enrolment and retention, empowering women through the Home-Grown School Feeding Programme, and supporting national social protection initiatives aimed at strengthening human capital development.
Dr. Hauwa Aminu Wambai was recognized for her impactful humanitarian work through the Al Masaareef Foundation, particularly in promoting girl-child education, women empowerment, health and wellbeing initiatives, substance abuse prevention, peacebuilding, and advocacy against gender-based violence.
Amb. Dr. Evangeline Ozonyiri Iwenjiora received her nomination in recognition of her exceptional leadership of the Ivyline Care Foundation, where she has consistently championed girl-child education, women empowerment, child protection, advocacy against gender-based violence, and humanitarian outreach programmes supporting vulnerable communities.
Speaking on the nominations, the Founder and Convener of the Nigerian Humanitarian Awards & Magazine, Mr. Emmanuel Anabueze, noted that the four nominees represent the values of compassion, service, and transformational leadership that the awards seek to celebrate.
He stated that their dedication to uplifting vulnerable populations and creating sustainable opportunities continues to inspire hope and demonstrates the positive impact humanitarian leadership can have on society.
The 2026 Nigerian Humanitarian Awards & Magazine, themed “United for Humanity,” will hold from 27th to 29th August 2026 at the Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja.
The three-day event will commence with a Humanitarian Outreach and International Press Conference on 27th August, followed by the Humanitarian Conference & Impact Summit on 28th August, while the grand Awards and Recognition Night will take place on 29th August 2026.
