From Priscilla Ediare, Ado Ekiti
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, Engr Bamidele Faparusi, has congratulated the state governor Biodun Oyebanji and the APC over Tuesday’s verdict of the Court of Appeal, which affirmed Oyebanji as the winner of the governorship election held June 18, 2022, in the state.
This was as he appealed to Chief Segun Oni, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship candidate in the election and the appellant not to seek redress at the Supreme Court but to join hands with Oyebanji to develop Ekiti State.
The Court of Appeal, Ado Ekiti Division, in the judgement delivered virtually on Tuesday, dismissed the appeal filed by the SDP candidate for lacking in substance.
Faparusi, who is the Coordinator, Contact and Mobilisation Committee, Tinubu-Shettima Presidential Campaign Council in the state, in a statement he personally signed and provided to Daily Sun on Wednesday, in Ado Ekiti said “the victory is for the good of Ekiti State whose development has been retarded by political instability and lack of continuity in government.
“Oyebanji’s victory will be the first time in Ekiti State that we will have continuity in government, continuity in policy and programmes, and continuity in development plans. Therefore, I want to congratulate the Ekiti people, the APC and of course, the Governor and his Deputy, Mrs Monisade Afuye, for the victory at the Appeal Court.
” To me, it’s a victory for the people who willingly gave the mandate to Governor Oyebanji.
“I want to appeal to Engr. Segun Oni to cease further legal adventures and join hands with Governor Oyebanji to move Ekiti State forward, having exercised his right to exploit judicial technical means to gain power and got the unfavourable verdicts at both the tribunal and appeal court. I will urge him to accept the verdict in good faith as further attempts to [go to the] Supreme Court will be tantamount to desperation and fraud.
“Additionally, I am appealing to party members, supporters and people of Ekiti State to go out en masse on Saturday, February 25 and vote for the APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to have a better Nigeria.”
