Family of 4 electrocuted in Taraba

At least four family members are confirmed  dead in a tragic fire incident in Dinyavo, Jalingo, the Taraba State capital.

Taraba State Police Publlic  Relations Officer (PPRO),SP Abdullahi Usman, who confirmed the sad incident, said that the command received distress calls about the fire incident and on arriving at the scene  found four members of a family on the floor with burns all over their bodies

Usman, disclosed that the four victims  were confirmed dead on arrival at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Jalingo.

According to Usman,”the names of the victims are:Mr Reymond Ofonbuk, Mrs Mfonobong Reymond, Heaven Reymond, and First Reymond. It was gathered that the YEDC restored power and the obviously excess voltage blew the transformer in the neighbourhood. Many houses in the neighbourhood experienced high electric voltage,which led to the fire outbreak that affected several houses in the area”.

Usman,however, said that the command has commenced thorough investigation to unravel what really happened.

A witness who spoke to our Correspondent on the phone, said: “There was  fire incident from YEDC transformer in Dinyavoh. Many houses got burnt including new P. D. Pius & Associates office. Four people died instantly, while others were  rushed to hospital with different levels of burns.

There is confusion and fear all over the place”.
