Family, associates honour Aigamawy with memorial lecture

Families friends and Islamic faithful recently gathered to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the death of an Islamic scholar, Zubair Noibi Algamawy, at the premises of Zawiyat Sofwat El-Islam of Nigeria, Ajegunle Sango, Ogun State.

He was the father of Abdul-Wahab Algamawy, founder of Zawiyat Sofwat El-Islam of Nigeria.

An Islamic scholar, Muritador Isalekoto, urged Muslims to emulate the deceased by teaching their children the ways of God and the teachings of Prophet Muhammed.

He described Algamawy as an iconic figure whose annual remembrance should not be seen as ritual, but a way of appreciating God for a life well spent.

He said the roles and impact made by Algamawy could not be forgotten, 40 years after his demise. “We are proud of the contributions he made during his time, which are still relevant today as well as for future generations.Although, he is not here with us in the physical form, Algamawy still remains dear to us, as all that he lived for is still meaningful to us.”

According to him, the anniversary was meant to  reflect on his progressive ideas and development in revolutionary thought and spirit.
