It was a gathering of who is who in the music industry, as fast rising act, Folarin Falana aka Falz tha Bahd Guy, premiered his song, Soldier, at Genesis Deluxe Cinema, Lekki, Lagos recently.
Music video director, Clarence Peters, explained that Soldier is a love story told from a different point of view. According to him, it is a mixture of fiction and reality meant to both entertain and raise awareness. “It is a Beast of No Nation meets Chibok Girls’ project. We set out to do something different and from the feedback we are getting, I think we achieved our aim,” he said.
Present at the premiere was the musician’s father, popular Lagos lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN), who expressed delight at his son’s achievement. “I just want to say that you have chosen a good path. I have always spoken against the brutalization of our people by the military, so when I see your film, and I see a lot of the normal African soldier. I hope you keep it up. I will consult with your mom so that we can also put in some support,” he said.
