From Aloysius Attah, Onitsha
Days after their epoch making work, their footprints of putting smiles on the faces of the indigents and underprivileged have continued to echo and resonate across the nooks and crannies of Onitsha and environs.
It was the outreach programme of the Faithspiration Family, an apostolate of Rev. Fr. George Ebere Adimike, a Catholic Priest of the Archdiocese of Onitsha.
Through the Faithspiration platform, people are “inspired”, “christified” and made to “flourish” in their various endeavours.
This time around, to mark the birthday of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Faithspiration Family embarked on Practical Christianity as espoused in Mathew 25:35-37 where the Bible recorded thus : “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me”
For three days, the Faithspiration team traversed the streets and major roads impacting lives. From Awada to Upper Iweka, Nkpor down to Bridge Head, the downtrodden had great times as they received cash gifts, loaves of bread, words of encouragements and food items from the team.
This is a clear manifestation of the famous quote by Saint Mother Theresa who said “Not all of us can do great things but we can do small things with great love”
The Faithspiration team ranging from Lay Faithful, Seminarians, Priests, and Youths among others actually made love go viral for three days and counting as they went round touching lives positively.
According to the Initiator and Founder, Rev. Fr. George Adimike, Faithspiration is a platform established to inspire people so that they would recover their faith.
He said that through the platform, those who lack faith would gain it while those who relax in their faith would be rekindled, adding that the platform equally inspires solidarity with everybody and above all, inspires a return to God.
The cleric further explained that Faithspiration has lasted about two years, stating that it was a project he conceived to reach out to the wider society after obtaining his PhD certificate following his studies in Rome.
Fr. George who is the Onitsha Catholic Archdiocesan Director of Social Communications stated that Blessed Virgin Mary has no other desire than to care for the Children of God.
” So, in the birthday of Blessed Virgin Mary, Faithspiration family considered it worthy to meet our brothers and sisters in various places who are suffering the most. We gave them spiritual food, prayed for them and gave them words of encouragement. We also sang songs of praises together with them. We gave them money and material things. We reach out to those in need and those who are neglected in the society” he said.
He disclosed that the exercise would also span across communities in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State and Nsukka in Enugu State as well as sick persons in Cameroon and Tanzania.
Fr. George also described Faithspiration as a Ministry as well as an NGO, stressing that it can minister in the society at large and also in the church.
“Sure, from time to time, we extend our charity to people. Charity doesn’t discriminate and that is why we served Catholics, Protestants, Pentecostals and Muslims. The majority we saw, we served them” he said.
The Faithspiration team preached the message of love for God and humanity to the indigents despite the prevailing hardship and other needs
Also speaking, Rev. Fr. Patrick Egaga urged all to work in line with the motto of Faithspiration to inspire, christify and flourish.
“What God wants from us is to love one another and we have come to show that same love to you. That love has no boundary whether rich or poor, handicapped or well endowed,” he said.
